HydroVenture consortium creates first space hydrology center
The HydroVenture consortium, involving fourteen companies and research centers such as CS Group, Magellium and Vortex-io, is creating the first operational space hydrology center. This center aims at predicting the evolution of water resources as well as flood and drought risks by combining space observations (such as the Swot satellite) and field surveys.
The consortium plans to expand on a European scale by participating in initiatives such as the Copernicus program and Destination Earth, with the aim of also contributing to the UN's environmental early warning service.
HydroVenture also aims at capturing a significant share of a sizeable European hydrology market that reflects the growing importance of water resource management in facing today's climate challenges.
